For the fourth time, Moscow is the venue of the festival VLADIMIR SPIVAKOV INVITES featurind such traditional contributors as the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and the Virtuosos of Moscow chamber orchestra. The soloists, winners of the 13th Tchaikovsky Competition and internationally renowned musicians, include three Russian performers - pianist Denis Matsuyev, oboist Alexey Ogrinchuk and baritone Dmitry Khvorostovsky, the British tenor Ian Bostridge, the German singer and actress Ute Lemper, and two American jazz stars - singer Randy Crawford and pianist and composer Joe Sample.

BAKHRUSHIN THEATER MUSEUM - Expositions tell about the history of the Russian theater. Collections of rare editions of plays, sketches and theatrical properties; personal belongings of Chaliapin, Komissarzhevskaya, Pavlova, and other great Russian perfomers.

Forbidden Art Returns

Four decades ago the works of these artists, who dared to display them right in the street, were crushed by bulldozers. Today this, once-forbidden, art is returning-the work of the second wave of the 20th-century Russian avant-garde is for the first time on view at the State Historical Museum on Red Square. You can see works by Ely Belyutin, Nikolay Vechtomov, Ernst Neizverstny, Vladimir Nemukhin and other Soviet nonconformists. The Exhibition opens on August 14 in the museums New Exhibition Hall.

Icon Painters of Tsar Michael Romanov
The exhibition, placed in the in the One-Pillar Chamber of the Patriarch�s Palace, is dedicated to the Russian school of icon painting of the XVIIth century. It presents obscure, newly restored outstanding icons and items of arts and crafts from the Kremlin Museums collection. It includes magnificent artworks, executed by the renowned icon painters of the Michael Feodorovich Romanov�s workshop, i.e. Istom Savin and his sons, Nikita Davidov, Marc Matveev and others.
